  • I’m offer sessions online and in person!

For online sessions, I use the platform SimplePractice as my all-in-one scheduler, encrypted client portal, and secure billing service.

I offer COVID-cautious in-person therapy sessions on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings at 4531 SE Belmont St, Suite #114, Portland, OR 97215. I wear a mask in sessions, I do not require most clients to.

For more information about my COVID policies and procedures, please visit my “About Me” page.

  • Yes! I am contracted with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Regence, MODA, and Providence. I may be able to bill other insurance plans as an out-of-network provider. Please be prepared to confirm that I am covered under your specific commercial health plan prior to scheduling.

I also accept PacificSource and Trillium OHP (Medicaid) plans, as well as their commercial plans. If you have another OHP plan and want to work with me, I may be able to offer a single case agreement. I am also able to bill OHP Open Card.

Beginning on 10/1/2025 I will unfortunately no longer able to bill CareOregon, HealthShare, Jackson Care Connect, or Columbia Pacific OHP; this includes single case agreements.

  • Couple and Family therapy will only be covered by insurance when the purpose of therapy is to support the covered member with managing symptoms of a mental health diagnosis, with the other person(s) acting as a “collateral” or support person. This looks like the covered member’s symptoms needing to be focused on for the majority of time in treatment - in other words, there is an unequal focus on one person over the other.

Conversely, traditional couple/family therapy looks like the therapist treating the relationship as the client, with an equal emphasis on all parties’ needs, symptoms, and concerns. In traditional couple/family therapy, a therapist can’t arbitrarily pick one person to be “the client” while doing therapy with all people present. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I have been advised that unless there is a diagnosis being treated with medically necessary evidence-based treatment and collateral support, singling out one person as “the client” is unethical.

All of the above creates a conflict with insurance: when the primary purpose of therapy is to improve the relationship, with equal emphasis on all parties and without the goal of treating symptoms of a diagnosis, the services are referred to as “enrichment counseling” and are not considered medically necessary.

For this reason, I am unable to guarantee any couple or family can use their insurance prior to completing a consultation and intake with me, as billing for services that are not considered medically necessary could result in the insurance company recouping their payments from me and potentially even charging me with insurance fraud.

The initial consultation is always free. I bill the intake to the covered member’s insurance if medical necessity is determined. If medical necessity is not determined, I charge a flat fee of $100, which can be negotiated lower if need be. For Medicaid clients, the screening assessment is free per OHA laws.

Completing an assessment is not a guarantee of treatment coverage - through the course of the assessment we may find that medical necessity has not been met, in which case you will need to proceed using an insurance waiver and pay out-of-pocket.

  • I accept payment through the insurances listed above, and sliding-scale out-of-pocket payments by Credit Card via SimplePractice.

*Out-of-pocket payment clients are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges under the No Surprises Act.

  • In our initial consultation, it’s just as important for you to get to know meas it is for me to get to know you. I’ll spend about 10 minutes explaining my clinical orientation and style, practice policies, and your rights as a client. We’ll then spend about 10 minutes talking about your current strengths, challenges, and goals.

You don’t have to make a decision about if you want to work with me during our first meeting! I’m able to hold new client spots without confirming you want to begin services for up to 48 hours.

  • I recommend all clients commit to weekly sessions for at least one month, so we can get to know each other and benefit from consistent meetings in creating your customized treatment plan. However, clients will always have the final say in what works best for you.
